Prompt Engineer (LLM & CloudFocused)

Role Overview We are looking for a Prompt Engineer with a strong background in Large Language Models LLMs) and cloud technologies to join our GenAI team. In this role, you will work closely with various stakeholders, translating user stories written in Gherkin format into features for our virtual assistant. You will design prompt instructions, integrate existing APIs (or build new ones), and monitor performance through Azure and other cloud services. Additionally, you will bring leadership qualities and analytical expertise to drive functionality, ensuring the virtual assistant delivers on business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Feature Implementation • Interpret User Stories: Convert Gherkin-formatted user stories into actionable features for the virtual assistant. • Prompt Design & Optimization: Develop, refine, and optimize prompts for various LLMs to ensure precise and effective assistant behavior.

2. API Integration & Development • API Integration: Seamlessly connect third-party APIs to enhance the capabilities of the virtual assistant. • Custom API Development: Build new APIs when existing solutions do not meet requirements, ensuring robust, scalable functionality.

3. Collaboration with Stakeholders • Cross-Functional Engagement: Partner with Product Owners, developers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver optimal technical solutions. • Platform Enhancement: Identify limitations of the current platform; work with Product Owners to propose and design new features.

4. Cloud Technology & Monitoring • Performance Tuning: Continually monitor and optimize the performance of our products.

5. Leadership & Analytical Thinking • Initiative Ownership: Lead prompt engineering initiatives from concept through implementation, assuming accountability for successful delivery. • Problem-Solving: Analyze complex requirements and devise strategic approaches to achieve desired functionalities.

6. Best Practices & Continuous Improvement • Stay Informed: Keep current on LLM advancements, prompt engineering methodologies, and emerging cloud technologies. • Practice Adoption: Promote and implement best practices in prompt design, API integration, and cloud management to maintain exceptional quality.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Technical Skills: • LLM Expertise: Proven track record working with Large Language Models (e.g., GPT, Gemini, LLaMA in production or prototype settings. • Prompt Engineering: Demonstrated proficiency in developing, iterating, and optimizing prompts for diverse LLMs and use cases. • API Integration & Development: Competence in integrating RESTful APIs and building custom APIs using frameworks like FastAPI or Express. • Cloud Technologies: Strong knowledge of Azure services, including API management, monitoring, and serverless infrastructures. • User Story Implementation: Experience converting Gherkin-formatted user stories into technical solutions.

• Soft Skills: • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills for liaising with both technical and non-technical audiences. • Leadership: Proven leadership capabilities with a proactive approach to project management and team collaboration. • Analytical Thinking: Adept at dissecting complex problems and outlining effective strategies.

• Preferred Skills • Backend Technologies: • Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python and SQL. • Frameworks: Familiarity with FastAPI and Azure Functions. • Databases: Knowledge of systems like PostgreSQL or MongoDB. • Agile Methodologies: Experience operating within Scrum or Kanban frameworks. • Version Control & CI/CD Proficiency with Git and CI/CD pipelines for efficient development and deployments. • Additional Cloud Platforms: Exposure to AWS or GCP is a plus. • Data Privacy & Compliance: Awareness of data privacy regulations and compliance standards in AI-driven applications. • AI/ML Projects: Previous work on AI/ML initiatives, particularly in conversational AI or virtual assistant development, is highly valued.
